San Diego Zoo

I'm very late in sharing our trip to San Diego last winter. We opted to visit California for our wintery escape this year and enjoyed several sites while we were there.

One of the best things we did was visit the San Diego Zoo! We had heard about it for years and knew it had to be on our list. We bought our tickets through AAA online and it was the best rate and included the bus tour of the zoo.

There was no charge for parking which was nice since so many places have added fees just to drive into the parking lot. We got there early and since it was a school break that was the smartest way to visit the zoo.

Rather than wander around we decided to take the bus tour first. Best decision ever! No line at the beginning of the day and it was very thorough so we knew what areas we really wanted to focus on during our visit.

Our admission also included the use of the kangaroo bus which takes you around one half of the zoo. Well worth it since it will wear your family out trying to walk the whole thing. We also had access to the Skyfari which takes you from the entrance of the zoo to the farthest side and you get a bird's eye view of everything on your way there.

You really could spend more than one day there as we weren't able to see everything in our one day there. We manage to see all of the animals that we really wanted to and next time we get out there I'm sure we'll go back to see the rest.

It really is as incredible as we had heard. Our boys have been to quite a few other zoos over the years and had low expectations when we told them we would be visiting the San Diego Zoo. They were blown away by everything this zoo had to offer and the variety animals were able to see while were there.  It was one of the highlights of our trip.

This is a 'must see' when visiting San Diego!
