Review: Joe's Crab Shack in West Kissimmee, FL

During our recent vacation to Florida, we were staying just outside of Orlando in the Kissimmee area.  Luckily the area is so close to Orlando that there are an abundance of dining options.

Once we arrived in Florida, we had the afternoon to relax and poke around some of the local shops.  As we were trying to figure out where to eat for dinner, it only took My Oldest moments to decide on what restaurant he wanted to try once he heard the name - Joe's Crab Shack.

My Oldest loves to dig in and break open crabs and enjoy every last bite.  So, even though we've got a location not that far from us in New Jersey, we've never been there.  It's so easy for us to get fresh seafood and make our own when we are at home.  So, visiting Joe's Crab Shack on vacation was a first for us!

We ended up eating at this location twice during our trip.  The first time as an early dinner and they weren't too busy yet.  We had a fantastic server, Consuelo, who even suggested that we go check out the Main Street in Celebration for ice cream afterward.  An adorable little town that I hope to go back and visit the next time we visit that area.

I started off with their Peach-Strawberry Sangria... and enjoyed it quite a lot!  I don't always order these type of drinks when we go out simply because they aren't always worth it.  I'm going to have to recreate it at home to share with friends this summer.

Peach-strawberry sangria at Joe's Crab Shack - yum!

My Oldest chose the kid's snow crab bucket and I don't think there was a bite left when he was done!  It was a nice sized portion, and I was happy to see that they did offer more interesting choices for the kids.

My Youngest chose fried shrimp and fries... he's not as adventurous when we go out sometimes.  He likes seafood, but not as much as the rest of us.  So, while it was nice to see some more interesting choices on the menu for My Oldest, the less adventurous one had options that made him happy, too. All of the kids menu items were served as nice sized portions.

My Husband opted for one of their Steam Pots that came with potatoes and corn on the cob... lots of crab to take apart and enjoy dipped in butter.

I chose one of their special items that is not on the website (bad blogger for not making a note of the exact name of the dish!).  It was a red fish topped with a shrimp and crab mixture on top, there were also a few pieces of their stuffed clams and bacon wrapped shrimp.

Joe's Crab Shack - red fish, stuffed shrimp and clams- hard to stop eating!

I loved the flavor of the fish, but the topping was what made it spectacular.  The stuffed clams were so tasty that I ordered the appetizer of them as my main dish the second time we went back.  The bacon wrapped shrimp were delicious, and definitely had a kick of jalapeño pepper in them.

Overall, the dining experience was very good, the atmosphere is fun with cool decorations.  The second time we went, the servers would all get out and dance to a certain song that would play which made for a fun evening.

While they have locations in many different states, below I'm sharing the location that we visited.
