The Podcast Commute #1

My commute has grown longer in the last month or so due to my company relocating to Jersey City. So, to help me pass the time as I navigate new traffic patterns, I've started listening to podcasts some mornings. I prefer to listen to music on the way home so, I have a variety of things to keep my mind off of the traffic.

I've added a number of subscriptions to my Podcast app on my iPhone. I had no idea how many different podcasts were available... everything from entertainment, business, self improvement, health, cooking... the list goes on and on! So, as I come across specific episodes that I think are really good I'll share them here.

Some are short and sweet, maybe only 10-15 minutes and others are closer to an hour. You could listen to them while driving, working out or doing things around the house.

I have a few that I've listened to in the last week that were great diversions from my drive and I learned some tidbits that I think will be helpful in work and my home life.

Success Insider - EP11: To Complain or Not Complain
This episode was an interview with Mary Carolomagno who challenged herself to 30 days of not complaining... about anything... at all. It is so easy to get sucked in when other people complain and then you end up in this negative spiral that impacts your mood for the entire day. Even what seems like a mild complaint can do this to you and those around you. I love this idea and am trying to be more conscious of how I phrase things so that it's less about complaining but finding a productive way of talking about what's going on around me.

The Shameless Mom Academy - EP25: Why Perfect Sucks
For this episode... I'd say just get through the first 15 minutes or so if you want to get to the "meat" of what it's about. I loved the reminder that sometimes you just have to jump in and make things happen rather than wait for the "perfect" moment. Searching for that perfect moment will often lead to inaction... which is a paralyzer in so many situations.

Heroine: Women's Creative Leadership - EP: Perfectionism (Block #3)
First, I have to say I really enjoy listening to the lead host, Maria Molfino. She has a great voice that is easy to listen to, and my takeaways from this podcast were very applicable to my blog. She mentions that looking for perfectionism can be a barrier to creativity. Sometimes you just have to move forward and let things happen.

If you have favorite podcasts that I should consider, please share them in the comments! I'd love to continue to add variety to what I'm listening to each day.
